Physiotherapy For Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is Nicole’s favourite joint of the body. Physiotherapy for shoulder pain is important because the shoulder is such a crucial joint. Without it you can find yourself frustrated, unable to play tennis, or make a cup of tea or walk the dog. With our dominant arm often affected this can make if difficult to complete everyday tasks or even work

Although classified as a ball and socket the actually structure relies heavily on the rotator cuff muscle working together to hold the humeral head central in the joint. How Can Physiotherapy Help Shoulder Pain?

Physiotherapy aims to help relieve shoulder pain through strengthening the surrounding muscle to normalise movement. People are often surprised how quickly pain can resolve once you use the muscle effectively. If we can reduce the effort on muscles which are compensating and normalise your movement pattern this can help to reduce pain.

We also use ultrasound to aid healing (such as for rotator cuff tears), soft tissue mobilisations and joint mobilisation techniques to reduce pain.
