How physiotherapy can support your loved ones.

Have you noticed that you have become stiffer in the mornings, restricted in your activities and find that those things that used to be easy seem a real struggle? All is not lost! There is good evidence to show that activity and exercises are fantastic way to make you feel better, stronger and maintain independence at home.

Use it or lose it!

Often as we get a bit older we can lose our fitness or sometimes a short stay in hospital can really take it out of us. The good news is with a bit of determination and some gentle exercises we can help regain your confidence and independence at home. If needed our physio’s will come to you and build realistic goals to help make tasks at home more manageable. Perhaps you would like to consider our intensive Back to Independence packages that offer intensive physio over the course of a set number of weeks.

Are you constantly worried about your loved one living alone? Do you wake up late at night concerned they may have fallen in the night and not be able to access help?

The reality is your fears are not unfounded. We know balance and strength deteriorate after the age of 30 and as soon as we lose confidence we do less and this spirals in a downward direction. Use it or lose it!

With the ageing population many of us are looking after our elderly relatives despite moving into later lives ourselves. This puts a massive emotional stress as we increasingly take on additional responsibilities in their care both physically and emotionally.

This can leave us feeling exhausted and unsure of the best way to help them. We can help by offloading some of that pressure and helping them remain strong and mobile so that they can support themselves and require less physical assistance from you.

It can be hard to be motivated by family member and sometimes a professional can be that key link in your parent’s rehab. Remember when you used to hate your parents nagging at you? Well it work’s both ways!

Our highly trained professionals make exercising enjoyable and work with your loved one to help build confidence, strength and improve quality of life.

They will also prove that strengthening and rehabilitation will make a positive impact to their lives. Many just don’t realise it can help!
