Are You Looking For Neurological Physiotherapy In Barnstaple?

Feeling like you need support?

Many people receive the diagnosis of a neurological condition and don’t know where to start. Often they get initial help from the NHS but then are discharged into the community and they feel isolated and unsure of their future. They lack clarity on what they are able to do and what they shouldn’t.

Our specialist rehabilitation centre boasts a wide variety of equipment such as the antigravity treadmill, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, wide neurological beds, clinical pilates equipment, parallel bars and physio steps.

We help people rewrite their story and change their blueprint.  This enables them to feel empowered and maintain dignity and independence. Our goal is to show you ways to stay as active as possible and improve your quality of life.

We are not setup for people who require hoists or assistance of more than 3 people (we are working hard to raise the funding to bring these facilities as soon as possible).

Physiotherapy For Amputees

Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in assisting amputees in their rehabilitation journey. We specialise in optimising the mobility, strength, and function of individuals who have undergone limb amputations.

We work closely with amputees to develop personalised exercise and stretching routines that help improve muscle tone, joint flexibility, and overall physical conditioning. Gait training and balance exercises can enable you to regain confidence in walking and performing daily activities with prosthetic limbs or assistive devices. Through a combination of manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and education, physiotherapy empowers amputees to enhance their quality of life, regain independence, and adapt successfully to their new physical circumstances.

Physiotherapy For Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a condition that affects the nervous system. Our experienced neurological physio Kathryn will help you identify and develop strategies to help you maintain as much independence as possible. With gentle, evidence-led advice, exercises and treatment she will help you keep your muscles strong and show you how to adapt to make mobility easier.

We use the Pilates Cadi and reformer to help assist people with medium mobility difficulties which means you can exercise without the need to get on and off the floor if this has become too challenging.

Our antigravity treadmill also allows patients to walk for longer distances by supporting individuals.

Currently, our facilities support people who do not require a hoist or assistance of more than 2. If you are unsure if we are right for you please call our number on 0333 567 0663 to discuss your individual needs.

Physiotherapy For Spinal Cord Injuries

If you’re looking for physiotherapy following a spinal cord injury we have you covered. With expertise in helping people with a variety of challenges, we will work with you to help you improve posture, relieve tightness and manage spasm.

We treat a variety of spinal injuries in the thoracic and lumbar region. We have an antigravity treadmill ( suitable for people who can mobilise through their lower limb) or the reformer, cadi and wider plinth to help people achieve their potential in a safe environment.

If you’d like to speak to us about your individual needs we would be happy to discuss what treatments could benefit you.

Physiotherapy For Head Injuries

If you or a loved one has recently acquired a brain injury then you may be looking for help to recover and regain mobility. Depending on the area of the brain that has been affected there can be a large adjustment period. Sometimes frontal lobe injuries can cause people to have changes to their personality or find that they have more problems with executive function or managing their emotions.

Rehabilitation involves helping you to rewrite your story and create your future. We are set up with equipment that can help small to medium disabilities from a head injury. Common things that we can improve include balance, coordination so you can return to activities you love, walking and transfers.

We recommend a call so we can discuss your individual needs and explain what we can offer.
